Our focus is to fulfill the desires of our clients. We are a team of professionals that start with water concepts of property owners, developers, designers & builders, then implement them in the field via a methodical, business and construction program. The essential key to accomplishing this is to work with all of the project members to build, within the program established by the Client and the site in a collaborative manner.
The Team
Our team is a compilation of landscape architects, artisans, contractors and manufacturers that have adopted a program by which “architecture” as an art form can manipulate water. The water industry, for too long, has failed to work “with” the rest of the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) trades. Our Team was conceived by design professionals as a solution to this dilemma.
Programs
Construction – We can assemble a construction program to suit the needs of the
project and follow the design plans provided.
Design – When there is no physical design package, we can be retained to
assemble this on behalf of the client. Taking a conceptual idea and developing the engineering and construction documentation is a reality under the guidance of the Nautical Team. From there the construction process is allowed to flow more managed than random assembly of components.
Design/Build – Some situations require a synthesized program of the above two processes. Nautical can provide architectural documents as well as professional construction services for any situation.
System Types
Natural Features – The careful balance of rock, water
and plant material can affect how natural an environment appears. Sometimes an abstract representation of nature is required to show the dichotomy between man-made environments and those naturally found. Sometimes these spaces require natural stone materials selected for their color, texture and overall shape. Other times artificial stone (GFRC) is the practical answer when access or budgetary constraints inhibit the use of large stone formations.
Architectural Features – When a designer creates an architectural feature within a project
they expect a precise level of accuracy during the implementation phase. Our team of landscape architects understand the intent of design plans and never embellish or elaborate upon a design. All specifications are followed exactly to fulfill the desires of the artist. These features need to work within the overall project scene. We ensure that this happens.
Swimming Pools & Spas – Understanding the design and the limitations of Health Department
regulations is essential to creating public bathing environments. We are fluent with these regulations and what is possible in both public and private arenas. Clients express desires and we cultivate those desires into permitable, buildable bodies of water that patrons or guests can enjoy while adhering to applicable code.
Artwork – As artists create their works they sometimes envision water a key component of the
overall piece. When they do, we collaborate with them to ensure that the art is the focus of the scene and the water is the support as intended. One key factor is eliminating all visible hardware that may interfere with the aesthetic value of the art piece. Another is ensuring that the water will not adversely affect the material of the art.
